Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is approachable only by road and is approximately 80 km from both Palakkad (Kerala state) and Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu state). The nearest town is Pollachi , which is 41 km away. There is no road directly connecting Parambikulam with the rest of Kerala state, and all visitors must pass through Pollachi in Tamilnadu state.
Every day, there are three public bus trips plying between Pollachi and Parambikulam, operated by Tamilnadu and Kerala transport department. These buses are mostly used by the tribal people, and at times they may get extremely crowded. Also, the bus timings may not be consistent every day. The road stretch between Sethumadai and Topslip is narrow and has numerous potholes. Due to this, riding on a bus could be bumpy and uncomfortable for many.
